Fire Ban Lifted

Tuesday May 05, 2020
https://www.tyendinagafire.ca/fire-risk-status.php
Please note the Fire Ban in Tyendinaga Township has been lifted at this time. Please see the Fire Risk Status as the current fire status is High.

To obtain a burn permit a cheque for $20.00 can be dropped in the mail slot at the Municipal Office with a note containing your name, address, phone number and email address. Once the permit is issued a copy will be sent to your email and a hard copy will follow via mail.

High Fire Risk Status:
Burning permits and industrial activities may be restricted, call 1-855-930-1990 before you burn to activate your permit or visit t http://tyendinagafire.ca/burnpermit

Unattended brush and campfires are likely to escape.

Fires spread rapidly and short distance spotting is common.

High intensity burning may develop on slopes or in concentrations of fine fuels.

Fires may become serious and their control difficult unless they are attacked successfully while small.

Extreme caution must be used in any burning activities.

All fine dead fuels ignite readily and fires start easily from most causes.

Ontario Community Support

Thursday April 30, 2020
Ministry for Seniors
and Accessibility

6th Floor, Suite 601C
College Park
777 Bay Street
Toronto ON, M7A 2J4

April 22, 2020

Good afternoon,

Protecting the health and well-being of all Ontarians is our government’s top priority, especially during the COVID-19 outbreak. On March 30th, Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health recommended that individuals over 70 years of age to self-isolate. We need to do everything we can to protect our seniors and most vulnerable citizens. That is why Ontario is launching the new Ontario Community Support Program to assist low-income seniors and people with disabilities in need.

By partnering with the Ontario Community Support Association (OSCA), our government is helping to provide delivery of meals, medicines and other essential items to those in need during COVID-19.

The OSCA is an experienced not-for-profit organization comprised of community organizations serving Ontarians across the province. By working through their existing network, we can help ensure that seniors, people with disabilities and those with underlying medical conditions receive the supports they need as quickly as possible.

The program will expand existing Meals on Wheels capacity to reach even more people in need. To support this expansion, the government is partnering with SPARK Ontario (www.sparkontario.ca) to encourage volunteers to assist Meals on Wheels and other programs in need of support. The program will also develop the capacity of community organizations and others to help deliver medication and other essentials.

Seniors, persons with disabilities and people with underlying medical conditions, their families or caregivers can access delivery services by visiting www.ontariocommunitysupport.ca.

Those without internet access, or who require service in a language other than English or French, can contact 211 at any time by dialing 211, 1-877-330-3213 (toll free) or 1-888-340-1001 for TTY service.

We encourage you to get the word out about these services to your communities and community partners.
Thank you in advance for your support as we continue our work to support seniors and people with disabilities through these challenging times.

2020 Property Assessment Update Postponed

Thursday April 02, 2020
http://www.mpac.ca
As part of the Ontario Government’s Economic and Fiscal Update on March 25, 2020, the Hon.
Rod Phillips, Minister of Finance, announced the Province’s decision to postpone the 2020
Assessment Update, which would have seen the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation
(MPAC) update the assessed value of every property in Ontario this year.
In lieu of providing municipalities with updated assessed values for 2021, MPAC will deliver
property assessments based on the fully phased-in January 1, 2016 current values, which is the
same valuation date MPAC used for this year. For example, if your property value in 2020 was
$300,000, municipalities will use this same value to calculate your property taxes in 2021.
MPAC will continue to conduct regular business, including updating property information,
completing tax applications and managing Requests for Reconsideration and appeals.
If you have questions about your assessed value or the postponement of the 2020 Assessment
Update, visit mpac.ca or call 1-866-296-MPAC (6722) or TTY: 1-877-889-MPAC (6722).

Township of Tyendinaga Declares Public Emergency
“As of 12:00 pm this afternoon, March 31, 2020 I have declared a Public Emergency in accordance with the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act,”, states Rick Phillips, Reeve of the Township of Tyendinaga.
“Having conferred with my fellow Township Councillors and our senior staff, it is my opinion that it is necessary for me as Reeve, to make the declaration at this time. We are taking these measures for the following reasons:
• A strong show of support for the Provincial Government, Hastings County and all other local and municipal Declarations of Emergency.
• To support the continuity of operations of the Township in order to continue to provide services to the residents in our Township.
• Taking the necessary actions to support the health and safety of our staff.
“The Township of Tyendinaga has already taken steps to ensure that it has its continuity of operations plans in place and continues to deliver essential/critical services to the public. We have taken the necessary step of closing our Municipal Office, Library, Fire Hall and Recreation Facilities to the walk-in public. Our staff continue to provide services through on-line and phone arrangements,” added Phillips.
“On behalf of The Township of Tyendinaga we strongly believe in and recommend all residents of every municipality follow the social distancing and isolation guidelines being promoted by our health care experts. We will continue to support our neighbouring municipalities, residents and staff during this unprecedented event.” stated Phillips.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
March 26, 2020

County of Hastings Declares Public Emergency

“As of 8:30 a.m. this morning, March 26, 2020 I have declared a Public Emergency in accordance with the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act,” states Rick Phillips, Warden of Hastings County.

“Having conferred with my fellow County Councillors and our senior leadership team it is my opinion that it is necessary for me as Warden, to make the declaration at this time. There are four main reasons for this critical action,” said Phillips:
 A strong show of support for the Provincial Declaration of Emergency;
 To support the continuity of operations of the County in order to continue to provide services to the residents in our Manors, patients of our paramedic services, our clients and the public;
 Taking the necessary actions to support the health and safety of our staff;
 To support where we can, the operations of our local member municipalities.
“Yesterday, I spoke with Mayors of the Cities of Belleville, Quinte West and Prince Edward County about the declaration. Both Mayor Ferguson from Prince Edward County and Mayor Harrison from Quinte West advised that they intend on making their declarations simultaneously with Hastings County. As neighbours and partners in the provision of critical services to our residents and businesses it is important for us to work together as we deal with this pandemic,” Phillips stated.

“Let me also make it clear that the County of Hastings has already taken steps to ensure that it has its continuity of operations plans in place and continues to deliver essential/critical services to the public. We have taken the necessary step of closing our offices in Belleville, Quinte West, Madoc and Bancroft to the walk-in public. Our staff continue to provide services through on-line and phone arrangements,” added Phillips.

“The County of Hastings, its 14 local municipal members and our partners will, I am convinced, do all that we can to support each other during this uncertain and difficult period. Together we are strong,” stated Phillips.
