The Township of Tyendinaga is committed to providing an accessible environment in which people with disabilities can access Township services, programs, facilities and public spaces with dignity and independence.

The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act(AODA) is a provincial legislation that was enacted into law in 2005. Under the AODA, all private, public, and non-profit organizations are legally obligated to comply with Customer Service and Integrated Accessibility Standard Regulations.

Tyendinaga Township demonstrates its commitment to accessibility with its Multi-Year Accessibility Plan 2021-2025. The Accessibility Plan is designed to complement and to be an extension of past plans and other policies and procedures. The Plan includes strategies that will help make the Township more accessible to all its residents and visitors. The Township’s Plan was presented and passed March 15, 2021, and as required an annual status report is prepared on the implementation of the Plan as per legislation. The annual status report allows the Township to outline and communicate the past year’s achievements in regards to accessibility. The 2023 Annual Accessibility Status Report was provided to Council and approved on November 8, 2023.
