Wildfire season in Ontario has started and there are many active fires across the province, however there are currently no active fires that are impacting any portion of Tyendinaga Township.
As the result of extremely dry conditions, and in an effort to prevent wildland fires Tyendinaga Township is now under a TOTAL FIRE BAN.
There shall be NO open air fires or burning of any kind during a Total Fire Ban, at any time of day. This includes but is not limited to:
- Campfires
- Burn barrels
- Wood or charcoal BBQs or outdoor stoves
- The use of fireworks or flying lanterns
This ban will be fully enforced and violating this ban could result in applicable fines and/or charges. Any person deemed liable for a fire incident during this ban will be responsible for any and all costs incurred as a result of the fire department’s response and actions taken to extinguish said fire. There will be NO burn permits issued during a Total Fire Ban
The Total Fire Ban will remain in effect until further notice. Only the Fire Department may lift the ban
If you have any questions regarding the fire ban, or local fire conditions in the municipality, please contact the Fire Chief at firechief@tyendinagatownship.com
